Star Trek Flick Is Four Stars for Me

Just saw the latest Star Trek movie and I loved it. I have been anticipating it for the longest time. There's been lots of drooling going on on my part since that trailer started appearing on TV sets. The trailer strategy is perfect. Show the Starship Enterprise whizzing by, name and ID included, and the Star Trekkies will find it irresistible.

How does it differ from previous Star Trek movies? In many ways! For one, it is a prequel kinda like Star Wars I, II, and II. You meet Captain Kirk as a young man, reckless and playboy. The guy who plays the role certainly fits the part. He is young and he does not mind if some facial scars are showing. Compared to Twilight's Robert Pattinson or 17 Again's Zac Efron, he's less self-conscious about himself and really delivers.

And oh, you get to meet Captain Kirk's dad, too, so great looking too but too perfect looking. And the best part of it? The friendship blooming between the Captain and Spock, how it all started, and what happens as time goes on a warp, induced by an artificial Black Hole-making machine.

I like the looks of the film quality as well. They really managed to make the technology look more primitive since this is prequel of course. So much for realism! More on this later...
